Five Steps to Making Your Favourite Fog at Home

Apr 5, 2024 · Campbell RIver fog · fogs · tea fog · tea latte

We know you can’t always rush down to the shop for a nice cup of something, so here’s how to enjoy some Stonehouse at home.

1.    Choose your favourite mug to create your fog.

If you don’t have one, please visit the shop to find a new fav as we have a huge supply!

2.    Choose one of your favourite Stonehouse Teas.

Choose a tea with the flavour & caffeine level that you need.  For a great tea fog, select a bold flavour, and avoid the teas that too high in fruit, such as hibiscus, berries, rose hips & citrus fruits.  The acid in the fruits can cause the milk to curdle.

3.    Place one teaspoon of tea into an infuser or teabag then into your favourite mug.

Add enough hot water to cover the tea infuser or teabag, approximately 2 ounces.

4.    Choose a sweetener to enhance the flavour of your tea.

There are lots of options for sweeteners:  you can choose plain or cane sugar, honey, or even maple syrup. We often use a flavoured syrup at Stonehouse Teas and have these available if you want to use one at home.

Add sweetener to taste, although we recommend approximately 2 teaspoons per cup.

5.    Choose & heat your preferred milk.

One of the most delicious things about a tea fog is the creamy milk added to the drink. Choose your favourite milk or alternative milk and begin the heating process.

If you have a milk frother at home you can use that. The other option is to heat your milk gently in a pot over low heat.  Whisk the milk as it heats to create a bit of texture to your milk. Be careful: avoid boiling the milk. The hotter the milk gets, the more you will lose the sweetness of the milk.

6.    Pour your warm, thick milk over the tea and sweetener, & garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon, sugar, or other spice.

Enjoy!

Until next time,
Christine
